About U.P., Up #1

Randy Jewart is both a sculptor and a crusader for art. The artist says, “I believe that art is the last bastion of the world’s free thinkers. My efforts as an individual artist and…art activist are aimed at communicating directly to people in the way that only art can.” U.P., Up #1 allows for a tactile interaction, as its chiseled surface invites the viewer to experience its complex texture. Jewart explores many different forms in his sculptures, including towers, fountains, columns, and wheel shapes. He always creates works rich in pattern and detail. Randy Jewart received his BA from the College of William and Mary, Virginia, and his MA in drawing and sculpture from Boston University, School for the Arts.
